Emilie completed her DPhil from the Oxford School of Global and Area Studies, where she wrote her thesis titled “Political Leadership and Democratization in Argentina: Raúl Alfonsín and Carlos Menem.” Her research interests focus on political leadership, the history of democracy, and processes of democratization. In addition to her doctoral work, Emilie co-edited the dossier “Revisiting the ‘Second (Short) Wave’ of Democratization in Latin America, 1943–1962,” published in the Journal of Iberian and Latin American Studies (2024).
